Stellantis Australia is recalling over 9000 examples of its Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator off-roaders for a fault that could lead to a vehicle fire, with owners advised to park away from structures and other vehicles.
It’s part of a global recall of 1,331,258 Jeep vehicles.
“There have been no reported incidents related to this recall in Australia,” said a Jeep Australia spokesperson in a statement.

“Some of the listed vehicles may have an Electric Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPSP) electrical connection susceptible to high resistance,” reads Jeep Australia’s recall notice.
“Some customers may experience a loss of power steering assist or a ‘Service Power Steering’ Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
“In some circumstances, high resistance electrical activity may take place in the area of the EHPSP connection causing overheating of combustible materials.
“Overheating of combustible materials in the vehicle or surrounding area may potentially lead to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Stellantis Australia is advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained.”

“The remedy for this condition is not currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods,” reads the recall notice, which says the remedy is estimated to become available in the third quarter (July to September) of 2026.
Stellantis Australia will contact affected customers via mail, email or phone call as soon as the remedy is available. Customers will then need to schedule an appointment with an authorised dealership to have the repair carried out, free of charge.

This is the latest major recall of Jeep vehicles for a potential fire risk.
Last November, Jeep in the US recalled 228,221 Wrangler and 91,844Grand Cherokeevehicles equipped with the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain. Only the latter was sold here, as the Grand Cherokee 4xe Summit Reserve.
As with this new recall, owners were advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles until the defect – located in the battery pack – could be rectified.
Jeep Australia has yet to issue a recall for the Grand Cherokee 4xe, of which 122 examples were delivered locally between its launch and the end of 2025.
