Range Roveris about to add a second electric vehicle (EV) to its lineup with theRange Rover Sport soon to be available with an electric drivetrain.
The new Range Rover Sport Electric was unveiled at a private event at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Although the company has yet to provide any details about the car’s technical specifications,Autocarreports it will share its EV drivetrain and battery pack with the full-size Range Rover Electric.

This means it should have a pair of electric motors making a total of 404kW of power and 850Nm of torque. This likely means a 0-100km/h time around the 4.4 second mark, and a top speed of about 210km/h.
In addition to riding on the MLA Flex architecture, the Range Rover Sport has the same wheelbase as the standard-length Range Rover.
As such, it reportedly uses the same nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery with a usable capacity of 118.5kWh. This should result in a range of around 610km under the WLTP testing regime.
Like the Range Rover Electric, the Range Rover Sport Electric will have very little to no differentiation between it and variants with internal combustion engines. The only distinctive element we can see on these prototypes are the wheel caps, which simply read ‘EV’.
Land Rover will confirm more details about the electric Sport later this year. No timeframe has been given for the car’s launch.
The new Sport Electric will likely be a fair bit cheaper than the Range Rover Electric. Its lower price point should help to drive more sales, and improve the economies of scale for this EV drivetrain.
When the Sport Electric goes on sale, it will share showroom space with the straight-six petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid variants, as well as the petrol V8s.
