Nissan Australia is recalling e-Power series-hybrid versions of the Qashqai small crossover SUV as they could lose power.
“Due to a software issue with the Lithium-ion Battery Controller (LBC) the vehicle may enter a fail-safe mode whilst driving,” the company says in its recall notice.
“This could lead to a loss of motive power and prevent the vehicle from charging.

“A loss of motive power may increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
This recall follows one for the X-Trail e-Power this month, which may also lose power and not charge its battery.
It’s also the fifth recall for the current-generation Qashqai, though only the second for e-Power variants. In April 2025, Nissan Australia recalled 380 e-Power variants built in 2023 for a fault that could see limp-home mode activated.

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Nissan dealer to have the software reprogrammed, free of charge.
