The Ford E-Transit electric commercial van has been recalled due to a fault which could see the vehicle’s parking brake fail, causing it to roll away.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the left-hand rear driveshaft may have been incorrectly installed. As a result, it could lead to a loss of motive power whilst driving and/or unintended vehicle movement while the vehicle is in park if the parking brake is not applied,” the company said in its recall notice.
“A loss of power whilst driving and/or unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Ford Motor Company Australia in writing and asked to contact their local dealership to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge,” reads the recall notice.

The E-Transit was last recalled in October 2025, when 278 vehicles were recalled for a potential fault with the 12-volt battery which could lead to toxic gases leaking into the cabin.
The electric van was also caught up in a recall of 29,874 Ford vehicles in mid-2025 for a reversing camera fault, which also impacted the diesel Transit, the smaller Transit Custom, as well as the Ranger, Everest, Mustang, F-150 and Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle.
Ford recalled 110,362 vehicles in Australia in 2025, considerably more than any other automaker.
