Australian Peugeot distributor Inchcape European Automotive is recalling almost 200 examples of the Peugeot 2008 small SUV due to a potential under-bonnet short-circuit that could lead to a fire.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, affected vehicles may have been assembled with insufficient clearance between the gasoline particulate filter pipe and the pole protection cup of the 48V belt starter generator,” the company says in its recall notice.
“Under wet conditions, this could cause an electrical hazard and lead to overheating resulting in a fire within the engine compartment.
“A vehicle fire increases the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and/or damage to property.”
