Images and details about the faceliftedGeely EX5mid-size electric SUV have been leaked ahead of its market debut in China.
CarNewsChinahas found and published filings made with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the updated Geely EX5.
The most significant visual update occurs up front, where the EX5 sports a new bumper with sharper detailing. The vertical side air intakes are larger and linked together by a band of black plastic to create a slightly menacing, almost evil, look.
This is underscored by a frame of matte metal-like material that should stand out more on vehicles not painted white.

With Chinese regulations banning flush-fitting pop-out door handles from the beginning of 2027, the EX5 has predictably gained a set of traditional pull-out handles.
From what we can see there don’t seem to be any changes to the rear, except the Geely wordmark has been added to the centre of the tailgate underneath the light bar.
A compact LiDAR array lives on the roof, and camera pods are now fitted just aft of the front wheel-arches. These indicate the company’s G-Pilot H5 advanced driver assistance system will be available, at least in China. The location of camera pods means the charging port has been relocated to the rear quarter panel.
Overall length is said to be 4636mm, meaning the EX5 is 21mm longer than before. Weight is roughly the same, with the car claimed to tip scales between 1750kg and 1830kg, depending on specification.
The changes are more than skin-deep with the EX5 ditching its 160kW/320Nm motor for a new 245kW unit. Not only that, but the motor is no longer up front, but now at the back and driving the rear wheels.
Thanks to the more powerful motor, the EX5’s top speed has jumped from 175km/h to 201km/h. The EX5 continues to use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, but capacities weren’t revealed in the filing.
Locally the EX5 is currently available with a 68kWh battery with a WLTP range of between 450km and 475km. Smaller 50kWh and 60kWh batteries are available overseas.
