The new-generation Toyota HiLux has only just been revealed and already a Thai entrepreneur is putting together a conversion kit for old HiLuxes.
In these images shared by Pasit Reddevill on Facebook, we can see the process of turning the outgoing HiLux – referred to as the HiLux Revo in Thailand – into the new-generation model, known there as the HiLux Travo.
We can see a HiLux Revo wearing the front- and rear-end styling of the new-generation model, as well as various shots of the individual parts fabricated to enable this transformation.

That includes everything from lights to the bonnet and tailgate, all of which have been painstakingly crafted to resemble those of the new ute.
As yet, this Thai entrepreneur hasn’t announced pricing for the conversion; he appears to be affiliated with Bangsaen-Shop, a 4×4 accessories business in Thailand specialising in Toyota accessories.
In a comment published yesterday, translated to English, he indicated to a commenter that there are still a few parts missing before the conversion is complete.
Making it easy to turn an old HiLux into a new one is the fact the new one, well, isn’t really that new.
The Thai-built ute not only rides the same 2004-vintage IMV ladder-frame platform as the old one, it even shares its roof, door skins and window glass.
The 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine has also been carried over, with unchanged outputs.
The new HiLux, which goes on sale here in December, does feature a heavily overhauled interior, while as mentioned there’s unique front- and rear-end styling.
