Mahindra sales rose by 11.6 per cent last year, putting the Indian auto brand in the top 30.
The company doesn’t supply its sales figures to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) for publication in monthly VFACTS reports, making it one of just a handful of brands – including Cadillac, Smart and Xpeng – which doesn’t supply this data.
On the back of a strong year for the brand, however, it has published a press release detailing its sales.

With 4653 sales, up from 4170 in 2024, Mahindra finished in 29th position – though the company is quick to mention it was a top-20 brand if you exclude prestige marques.
That put it just below Skoda (4808) and newcomer Geely (5010), but ahead of Renault (4569) and KGM (4116).
The overall market was up by just 0.3 per cent overall.
Mahindra cites its newest model, the XUV 3XO small SUV, as being a major growth driver despite only launching in July, though it doesn’t provide a breakdown of sales by model.
It has, however, noted the XUV700 mid-size SUV – currently Australia’s most affordable seven-seat SUV – has surpassed 7000 retail sales since its launch in June 2023.
Mahindra has been selling SUVs and utes in Australia for 20 years, though last year it did without the model it’s best known for: the venerable Pik-Up.
Instead, it’s a range of newer SUVs – the aforementioned XUV 3XO and XUV700 crossover SUVs, plus the body-on-frame Scorpio off-roader – that are powering the brand here now.
Mahindra has previously confirmed it plans to re-enter the ute segment in 2027 or 2028 with a new ‘global’ ute, developed with the Australian market front of mind.
