Mitsubishi is launching an electric SUV in Australia in the second half of 2026, and it’s likely to be based on this: the new Foxtron Bria.
The Bria has been launched in Taiwan as the production version of the FoxtronModel B concept.
Mitsubishi previously confirmed plans for a new, unnamed electric SUV made in partnership with Taiwan’s Foxtron, a joint venture between iPhone manufacturer Foxconn and automaker Yulon, and has said it will launch it here this year.

Designed by Pininfarina, the compact Bria has a 2800mm wheelbase and measures 4315mm in length, 1885mm in width and 1535mm in height. That makes it similar in size to the likes of the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV SUVs.
In Taiwan, where order books are now open, the Bria is offered in three model grades starting from NT$899,000 (A$42,650), with the top-spec priced at NT$1,149,000 (A$54,507).
Pricing overlaps with the petrol-powered Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross – discontinued in Australia in 2025 – which in Taiwan starts at NT$1,105,000 (A$52,420).
The entry-level Bria Elegant and mid-spec Bria Emerge come with a 171kW single-motor rear-wheel drive setup with 18-inch alloy wheels and a 6.8-second 0–100km/h claim.
Both have the same claimed 516km range (NEDC) from a 57.7kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
The top-spec Pioneer uses the same battery but adds a second motor to make it all-wheel drive, with its 299kW output enabling a 3.9-second 0–100km/h claim and a 466km (NEDC) range on 20-inch alloy wheels.
DC charging of up to 134kW enables a 10-80 per cent battery charge in 30 minutes.
The Bria is offered in six colours: white, black, grey, red, blue and green. There are also four two-tone colour options, with white, red and green offered with a black roof, while blue can be chosen with a white roof.
The cabin comes standard in black cloth trim but can be optioned in white on the Emerge and Pioneer, with all models fitted as standard with a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch centre touchscreen.
Wireless smartphone charging is standard, with the mid-spec Emerge adding ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic glass sunroof and an electric tailgate.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) include adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
Foxtron also makes a second production EV, the larger Model C SUV, which is badged as the Luxgen N7 in Taiwan.
While strong in hybrid models, Mitsubishi is still missing an EV in Australia, despite being an early pioneer with the city-sized i-MiEV briefly sold here in the early 2010s.
Last year it filed local trademark applications for the ASX GT-e and ASX VR-e nameplates, which could be applied to the Foxtron SUV.
The automaker bolstered its after-sales offer in late 2025, with sales falling 17.9 per cent as it dropped one place to sixth overall, overtaken by Hyundai.
The local office also announced a new CEO, with Shunichi Kihara taking over on January 5, 2026, following the resignation of Shaun Westcott from the role last September.
Mr Westcott blamed a lack of EV charging infrastructure across the country for slower-than-anticipated EV uptake in Australia and said the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES), introduced in 2025, would not increase EV uptake.
The NVES has forced manufacturers to keep carbon dioxide emissions across their new-vehicle lineups under set levels or face financial penalties for breaches. The amount of carbon dioxide permitted will reduce annually until 2029.
