Foton has expanded its Australian retail network, with the addition of nine dealerships bringing its nationwide total to 28 locations.
Distributed by Inchcape, which also handles Subaru, Deepal and Peugeot, the Chinese brand now has locations in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.
Foton has also opened new sales and service centres in metropolitan and regional areas across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. You can view all of Foton’s locations on its website.

“Continued investment in our retail and service network reflects Inchcape’s commitment to ensuring Foton owners have access to a quality network of national support and are well supported,” said Foton Australia general manager Glen Cooper in a release.
The network expansion now sees Foton operate dealerships in every state and territory in Australia.
Rival JAC, in contrast, has 47 locations, but lacks a presence in Tasmania and the Northern Territory.
While the Foton nameplate has persisted on heavy commercial vehicles in Australia, its presence in the local ute market has been less consistent.
Under its initial run selling utes in Australia, which lasted from 2012 to 2019, Foton went through two distributors and then a factory-backed operation before fizzling out.
Models like the Sauvana SUV and View van proved short-lived, with Foton best known for the Tunland Ute which it offered from 2012 to 2019.
This nameplate returned to the Australian market last year on a new-generation ute range, priced from $39,990 before on-road costs.
Larger in size than rival utes, if not quite as large as the full-size American pickups their styling apes, the V7 features a payload of over 1000kg and a live rear axle with leaf springs, while the V9 features a multi-link setup at the rear and is aimed more at private buyers.
The first deliveries of the Tunland V7 and V9 were recorded in November 2025, and in January 2026 Foton shifted 120 examples across the entire Tunland lineup – narrowly beating the JAC T9 (118), KGM Musso (112 units, including the unrelated electric Musso), and matching the LDV Terron 9’s tally.
It fell short, however, of the similarly new MG U9 (216 units), let alone longer-running budget utes like the LDV T60 (301) and GWM Cannon (957, including the larger Cannon Alpha).
