MG has published a full list of features and specifications on its website for its new small electric hatch, the MG 4 EV Urban, which opens at $31,990 drive-away.
It’s available in two variants – one with a 43kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the other with a 54kWh one – but both are in Essence trim.
In MG parlance, ‘Essence’ means top-of-the-line, which potentially leaves the door open for less well-equipped variants at a lower price in future.

MG has yet to publish pricing for the top Essence 54, even though MG 4 EV Urbans will start arriving in local showrooms in April.
The new MG undercuts theGWM Ora, currently available from $33,990 drive-away, and theGAC Aion UT, which is priced at $31,990 before on-road costs but temporarily available from $30,990 drive-away. TheBYD Dolphinstarts at $29,990 before on-road costs.
Unlike the existing MG 4, which offers a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, the MG 4 EV Urban will be available exclusively as a single-motor front-wheel drive electric vehicle (EV).

It measures 4395mm long, 1842mm wide, 1551mm tall and rides a 2750mm wheelbase, making it 108mm longer, 6mm wider and up to 47mm taller than the existing MG 4, on a 45mm longer wheelbase.
The MG 4 EV Urban rides the Chinese automaker’s new E3 platform, featuring torsion-beam rear suspension instead of a multi-link independent setup like in the MG 4.
The company has previously confirmed the MG 4 EV Urban would sit alongside an updated version of the existing MG 4, which will lose its 51kWh and 77kWh batteries and offer only a 64kWh pack.
