Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL680 in Australia, where the premium German auto brand’s new flagship roadster is now on sale priced from $463,900 before on-road costs.
That makes the first Maybach version of the SL the most expensive model currently offered by Mercedes-Benz in Australia, apart from the Mercedes-Maybach S680 limousine priced at $573,192 before on-roads.
Therefore the fourth Maybach-badged model on sale here will be pricier than both the less powerful V8-powered Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 large SUV ($409,900 plus ORCs) and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS680 large electric SUV ($331,600 plus ORCs).

Positioned at the top of the SL lineup and billed as the sportiest Mercedes-Maybach model yet, the SL680 combines the same V8 engine performance offered by the Mercedes-AMG SL63 ($383,700 plus ORCs) but adds even more open-top luxury and a big dose of bespoke detailing.
At the heart of the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680, which was first revealed in August 2024 and then confirmed for Australia in October 2024, is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 producing 430kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
Power is delivered to all four wheels through Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, enabling the luxury roadster to accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.1 seconds.
While performance remains a key focus, Mercedes-Benz says the SL680 features Maybach-specific chassis tuning designed to prioritise ride comfort and refinement without sacrificing dynamic capability.
Standard hardware includes Active Ride Control suspension damping and rear-axle steering, which can turn the rear wheels by up to 2.5 degrees to improve both low-speed agility and high-speed stability.
The powertrain is paired with a Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed automatic transmission with a dedicated Maybach drive program, while dynamic engine mounts and an electronically controlled locking rear differential also aim to enhance both handling and comfort.
The SL680 Maybach is distinguished from the SL63 AMG by a number of Maybach-specific exterior design elements.
Up front, there’s a Maybach grille with vertical struts and integrated ‘Maybach’ lettering, along with an Obsidian Black painted bonnet and 21-inch forged alloy wheels, offered in either a five-hole design or optional multi-spoke layout.
Standard paint finishes include Garnet Red and Opalite White Magno, both chosen to contrast with the black bonnet treatment.
Buyers seeking additional exclusivity can choose from more than 50 optional Manufaktur Exclusive paint finishes, while a body-colour bonnet can also be specified.
Mercedes-Benz is also offering a distinctive Maybach patterned bonnet, created using the brand’s PixelPaint technology.
Starting with an Obsidian Black Metallic base, the intricate Maybach pattern is printed directly onto the bonnet before multiple layers of clearcoat are applied and hand-sanded, creating what the company says is an especially deep finish.
Other exterior highlights include:
- Illuminated radiator grille
- Chrome bonnet strip
- Upright Mercedes-Benz star
- High-gloss chrome trim for the side sills, windscreen surround and front apron
- Insulated acoustic fabric soft-top with a subtle Maybach pattern
- Digital Light headlights with rose gold detailing and Maybach emblems
- Puddle lamps projecting the Maybach motif
Inside, the SL680 continues to focus on craftsmanship and comfort, with Nappa leather upholstery, a Manufaktur Dinamica microfibre roof liner, and bespoke trim elements designed to emphasise the car’s luxury positioning.
The sports seats feature a new floral upholstery pattern with embossed Maybach emblems, while the heated multifunction steering wheel combines wood and leather trim.
Other interior highlights include:
- High-pile floor mats with ‘Maybach’ lettering
- Silver chrome interior trim elements
- Illuminated door sills
- 1220W 17-speaker Burmester 3D high-end surround sound system
At the centre of the dashboard is an 11.9-inch MBUX infotainment touchscreen with augmented-reality navigation and 5G connectivity for digital services.
Wireless smartphone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a head-up display and 64-colour ambient lighting.
The SL680 also comes equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s Driving Assistance Package Plus, which includes:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Extended automatic restart in traffic jams
- Lane-keep assist
- Active Lane Change Assist
- Active Steering Assist
These systems are supported by a 360-degree camera and Memory Parking Assist.
Luxury and comfort features include the Energizing Package Plus, and climatised multicontour front seats with massage functions, and the SL680 also comes with Guard 360° Vehicle Protection Plus security monitoring.
